298 Days To Go

Gosh that sounds like a lot of days! We decided on February 14, 2010 for our wedding. The venue that I wanted for the reception, Winfrey Point, just happened to be open on that day and I mentioned it to my future husband, David. He absolutely loved the idea! So here we are now, planning a Valentine's Day Wedding. The ceremony will be at Lake Highlands Baptist Church, where my grandma attends, which happens to be only 3 miles away from Winfrey Point.

At this point in the game, I'm trying not to plan everything right now. Its so hard not to. But there is one roadblock... money. Of course, I would love to go to Michaels right now and buy like crazy. But my bank account kind of stops me, telling me, "YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY YET!" It doesn't have to yell at me... But I have been plotting out all the details from the internet and magazines about what to do.

Winfrey Point has a blank canvas. I love that! The fireplaces that are on each side of the room are perfect backdrops for cake cutting and toasts. There is also a stage that would be good to put the DJ and maybe even the Bride and Groom family tables up there. In front of the stage could be a perfect place to put the dance floor. There is a room on the side of the building I could put for gifts and different pictures. I'm going to the venue again next Wednesday to check it out again and get more exact measurements so I can get kind of a game plan going, as to where to put tables and a dance floor. I wish I could get more out of customer services as to what they provide, but its owned by the city of Dallas, and they don't give out much.

The centerpieces are going to be so simple and so cheap! Above is an example of what I want. All it is is cans wrapped in yarn, or jars that you use for groceries. I also like the flower thing they have going here, but instead of mix of different flowers, I'm going for a mix of different colored roses (red/pink, red/green, red/cream, red/white, red/orange, and so on).

These are the flower ideas that I had. The main flower is red roses. My dress has a creamy ivory color to it, so I'm trying to go with that theme, and it has such an antique feel to it! I love the two toned roses, and I am extremely happy I get to use them in the wedding!!!
